Who the hell is saying Heroin is addicting?

I understand that this is grammar and not linguistics, but if we’re talking good and evil, it does a lot more harm than good to tell someone the way they would naturally express something is evil. It used to be “wrong” to write a lot of things. 

For example: 

Whenever one says “addicting”, one really means “addictive”.
